## Pricing and profit

FlipBuying an item to resell it for more than you paid, after costs. Also the item itself: “that PS5 was a good flip.” Comps (sold comps)Recent *sold* prices for the same item in similar condition, used to estimate resale value. Asking prices aren't comps. Pounce's Auto pricing uses recent eBay sold comps on custom searches. ROI (return on investment)Profit divided by what you spent to acquire and prepare the item. $50 profit on a $100 buy is 50% ROI. Try the [flip profit calculator](https://pounce.gg/flip-profit-calculator). MarginProfit divided by the sale price. The same $50 profit on a $150 sale is a 33% margin. SpreadThe gap between the buy price and the realistic resale price, before costs. Buy targetThe most you'll pay for an item, usually set from comps and a target ROI or profit.

## Negotiating and buying

LowballAn offer below the asking price. A good one is specific, polite, and backed by a reason. See [how to lowball on Marketplace](https://pounce.gg/how-to-lowball-on-facebook-marketplace). Ceiling (walk-away price)The highest price at which a deal still meets your target. The [lowball offer calculator](https://pounce.gg/lowball-offer-calculator) works it out. CounterThe seller's reply to your offer with a different price. ISO“In search of”: a post from someone *wanting* an item, not selling one. Good filters drop ISO and “buying” posts from deal alerts. PPU“Pending pickup”: the seller has a buyer lined up but it isn't final yet. Private-partyA sale by an individual rather than a dealer or business. Private-party vehicles are often where the spread is. Activation LockApple's anti-theft lock tied to the owner's Apple ID. A phone that's still locked is essentially unsellable. See [flipping iPhones](https://pounce.gg/flip-iphones-facebook-marketplace). Salvage or rebuilt titleA vehicle title branded after major damage or an insurance total loss. It cuts resale value sharply. See [flipping cars](https://pounce.gg/flip-cars-facebook-marketplace).

## Tools and communities

Cook groupA paid community, usually on Discord, that shares monitors, release info, and deal alerts for resellers. Pokémon-focused restock groups often cost under $10 a month. AIO bot (retail bot)“All-in-one” checkout software that buys limited products from many online stores at once, such as Stellar AIO or Refract. Different from a Marketplace bot: it checks out at retailers rather than finding local listings. [Pokémon bots compared](https://pounce.gg/best-pokemon-bots), and [Stellar vs. Refract](https://pounce.gg/stellar-vs-refract). ProxyA different IP address your traffic is routed through. Retail bots use residential or ISP proxies so many tasks don't come from one connection. MonitorSoftware that repeatedly checks a site or search and alerts you to changes, such as new listings or restocks. ResealA box that was opened, searched or swapped, and rewrapped to look factory sealed. Common with sealed Pokémon. [How to spot one.](https://pounce.gg/pokemon-cards-facebook-marketplace#scams) Marketplace botA catch-all term for software that automates parts of Facebook Marketplace buying: monitoring, filtering, pricing, messaging, or relisting. [What they do and the risks.](https://pounce.gg/facebook-marketplace-bot) Discoverable timeWhen a listing first appears in a specific Marketplace search. It can be later than the posted time Facebook shows. [Why that matters.](https://pounce.gg/marketplace-alerts#listing-age) RelistListing an item you bought for resale. Pounce can prepare a Marketplace draft from a find for you to review and publish.
