GUIDE

How to find deals on Facebook Marketplace.

Great deals on Marketplace are rarely hidden. They're new, badly described, or priced by someone in a hurry, and they're gone within minutes. The tactics below help you see them first.

Search smarter

  1. Search the model, not the category. “PS5 disc” finds more than “game console”. Add storage or trim for phones and vehicles.
  2. Search the misspellings. “iphone 14 pro max” also appears as “ipone”, “i phone”, and “14promax”. Listings with typos get fewer eyes.
  3. Search vague titles. “Gaming PC”, “old camera stuff”, “moving sale”, “garage cleanout”. Sellers who don't know what they have write vague titles.
  4. Sort by newest. Default sorting mixes in older and promoted listings. Newest first shows you the fresh ones.
  5. Set a realistic radius. Wide enough to find volume, tight enough that you'll actually drive there today.
  6. Use price filters as a buy target. Cap the maximum at what still leaves profit, so everything you see is worth a look.

Read listings like a buyer

  1. Look at the photos, not the title. A Settings screenshot, a box label, or a model sticker often tells you more than the words.
  2. Spot the motivated seller. “Moving”, “need gone today”, “upgraded”, and “make an offer” are all invitations.
  3. Skip the traps fast. Empty boxes, “ISO” posts, deposits shown as prices, and too-good-to-be-true listings that insist on shipping. See common Marketplace scams.

Move before other buyers

  1. Get alerted, don't refresh. Saved searches with notifications are the free option. If they're unreliable, see why Marketplace notifications stop working.
  2. Send a real offer in the first message. “Is this available? I can do $300 cash and pick up today” beats “Is this available?”. Our message templates are ready to copy.
  3. Know your ceiling before you message. The lowball offer calculator gives you a walk-away price and an opening offer in seconds.

Automating the hunt

Doing all of this by hand across a dozen searches is a full-time job. Pounce watches your Marketplace searches from your Windows PC, filters out junk, cases, and scams with AI, prices each candidate against market data, and alerts you in Discord, Telegram, or Windows only when the numbers work. Optional Auto-message and Auto-lowball can start the conversation for you. How Pounce alerts work · Alert apps compared.

Common questions

What is the best time to find deals on Facebook Marketplace?

Evenings and weekends usually bring the most new listings, because that's when people have time to post. The best deals, though, go to whoever sees them first, whatever the hour. Alerts matter more than timing.

How do I get notified of new Facebook Marketplace listings?

Save a search in the Marketplace app and turn on notifications for it. For faster or more consistent alerts, filtering, and pricing, dedicated tools watch your searches and alert you in apps like Discord or Telegram.

Why do I keep missing good Marketplace deals?

Usually because someone saw the listing and messaged first. Narrow, well-filtered searches plus fast alerts and a ready-to-send offer close most of that gap.
